ABOUT

Carolyn is a visual storyteller and movement artist who currently works as a film and television camera operator in New York City. She sees the filmmaking process as a choreography of creative minds and thrives in the communal manifestation of unique ideas. As she continues to elevate her operator work, she actively seeks to broaden her involvement in the process by producing independent films and live events. She is eager to explore new roles that leverage her technical expertise, organizational skills, and compassionate leadership with her creative spirit.

With over fifteen years of experience in camera department work, Carolyn has been camera operating for the last three years preceded by a decade of pulling focus.  She has been a proud IATSE Local 600 member since 2011, and is an associate member of the Society of Camera Operators.

She collaborates closely with cinematographers and directors to bring their visions to life on the screen, with a strong commitment to storytelling and style. Her career has spanned many professional sets, including episodic television, feature films, commercials, live broadcasts, and non-narrative work: her favorites of which have been feminist-leaning scripted comedies.

Carolyn is deeply passionate about supporting the success of female and minority filmmakers and wishes to be a resource for underrepresented voices. She strongly believes that when a diverse team of craftspeople combine their unique visions, the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. She plans to lend her crew perspective to future producing endeavors, always upholding kindness, equity and transparency as baseline workplace values, and giving industry professionals the living wages and humane work hours they deserve.
